Long Range Rimfire Match

Tuscaloosa Shooting Sports will be having our Long Range Rimfire Match Saturday May 25th. (22lr only)

The match will start at 9 am and the safety briefing will begin at 8:30. We only have room for 12 shooters for the first match. Text Mark Griesbach for a first come first serve reservation at 205-765-3368. (Spectators are welcome).  There will be a $10.00 entry fee.

The course of fire will consist of 10 shots at 10 steel targets at each of the ranges listed on the score card posted below in a 3 minute time period for each distance, there will be a 2 minute sighter period before the record score shots with unlimited sighters. (The sighter plates will be very large) 60 shots will be fired for score plus sighters, I would recommend bringing at least 100 rounds.

This match will be held on the 200 yard range on the back of the club and there is a target stand holder at each of the distances that will be fired if anyone would like to “dope” their rifles before the match. Match will be shot using a front and rear rest off of a bench. Anyone who shoots and is able will be expected to help reset targets during the match to move things along.

This should be a very fun match and I look forward to seeing you there.

Long Range Match score card

This month, TSSI will be hosting out first Steel Match.

TSSI Steel Match will be held following the CMP match on the 18th. The cost of each match is $10 per shooter.

We have had a few question regarding the TSSI Steel Match this weekend.  Here are some updates.

Ammunition

Minimum cartridge for centerfire competitions (38 Special/9X19). 380 ACP is allowed.
Rimfire firearms must be .22 Long Rifle (.22LR) only. No powderless cartridges.

No multiple-projectile or magnum loads allowed.

Any ammunition deemed unsafe or likely to damage the targets will be removed from use.  Examples include, but are not limited to:  Steel Jacketed, Steel core, tracer, and incendiary ammunition.

Magazines

Each competitor is expected to come to the firing line ready to shoot, with an appropriate amount of ammunition in an appropriate number of magazines or speed-loaders or other loading devices. We recommend that you bring a minimum of 100 rounds.

Safety Equipment

Eye and hearing protection is required for all competitors and spectators. Anyone observed without eye or hearing protection will be required to leave the shooting area until such eye and hearing protection is worn or used.

All firearms will be kept UNLOADED except on the firing line under the direct supervision of a Match Official.

All Spectators are welcome.  Please come out and help support the event.

Shooters meeting will be held at 11:15 a.m. and open to any club member.  Shooting will begin at 11:30 a.m.

It’s time to renew your membership for 2024. Below are instruction on how to renew on-line and information about our Club Cookout on October 28.

Tuscaloosa Shooting Sports has not had a dues increase in at least a decade. Unfortunately, inflation is forcing us to raise dues to $300. The costs of maintaining and improving the ranges have increased significantly over the last few years. From the costs of lumber to the costs of labor, club expenditures have gone up.

We are again using JoinIt to manage club membership and renewals. To renew, follow this link to TSSI’s JoinIt page:

Once on the JoinIt page, click LOG IN in the upper right:

Next, enter the email address associated with your membership (the email address through which you are receiving this email):

Then, enter your password, or, if you forgot your JoinIt password, click on “Forgot Password?” to reset you password:

Once you’re logged in, you will see all of your membership information and the option to renew:

When you click “Renew Membership” you will be able to make sure all of your information is up to date. Your 2024 membership card will be mailed to the address listed in this record. If you have a preferred first name for your membership card, please make sure that is also noted in the record. Finally, please make sure the expiration dates of your NRA membership and Pistol Permit are up to date.
